Calliandra Bungalow is situated 1,200 metres up in the tea district of Uva at Poonagala, just west of Bandarawela. The Bungalow is over 100 years old, built by an intrepid Scottish tea planter, who wanted to recreate a home away from home. Bandarawela is a five hour drive from the capital Colombo.
The three-bedroom bungalow offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of one of the most beautiful corners of the island. A typical day at Calliandra begins with a delicious pot of Ceylon Tea delivered to your room when you awake. A morning walk through the surrounding tea estates builds up an appettite for a hearty breakfast. At midday, the tea pluckers bring in their first pickings of the day to be weighed just below the bungalow.
Play golf at the 9-hole nearby course of Diyatalawa. Visit Pilkington's Point, Horton Plains with World's End lookout, Dowa Temple, Adisham Monastery, The Lipton Seat - all of which have the most magnificent scenery and vistas. Visit numerous spectacular waterfalls - Rawana Ella, Diyaluma and Dunhinda. Visit Yala Safari Park or Uda Walawe National Park.

There are three spacious double bedrooms. The Pink Room has two queen beds and a dressing room with a single bed. The Green Room has a king size four-poster bed with a dressing room and an extra single bed. The Blue Room has a king size four-poster bed. All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with bath an shower and face out onto beautifully cultivated gardens. Possible activities include exploration of the tea estate and factory, croquet, lawn badminton and swimming. Ayurvedic massages are available on request.
