Harrow Bungalow, Sri Lanka

Harrow bungalow is situated in the picturesque region of Talawakelle, a famous tea-growing area in the south-west of the hill-country, located between Nuwara Eliya and Horton Plains. The bungalow is conveniently located for those wishing to see Horton Plains or climb Adams Peak. The drive from Colombo is approximately 4.5 hours.

Harrow bungalow is a throwback to Sri Lanka’s colonial past, situated in the middle of a tranquil tea estate and full of history. The bungalow itself is an impressive white-walled structure looking out over neatly clipped lawns and flower beds. The views are magnificent. The property is rented as an entire bungalow only and has four rooms in all. The bedrooms have old-fashioned wooden floors and the living room is warmed during cold nights by a roaring open fireplace. There is a genial resident caretaker to look after you and meals are provided, although you have to pay for these separately.

The bungalow has four non a/c rooms - 2 doubles and 2 singles. All with attached bathrooms with piping hot water. The rooms have electric heaters for cool nights. A wonderful terrave overlooks the garden and a swimming pool that is basic and freezing cold, but nevertheless popular with children. The living room has an open fireplace and comfy chairs. The kitchen produces local and international food for which you have to pay separately.
