Norwood Bungalow, Sri Lanka

Nestled among the hills of the Dickoya region in central Sri Lanka, at over 5000 feet above sea level, is Norwood Bungalow. This superb property was originally built for British tea estate managers. The bungalow is located 45km south of Nuwara Eliya and 04 hours drive from Colombo.

The luxurious bungalow at Norwood commands a fine view of the eastern end of the Bogawantalawa valley and rests in the shelter of one of the finest bamboo stands to be found anywhere. It is here where planters of the past invited friends to enjoy the pristine air and glorious outlook. You too can wander the gardens unchanged since yesteryear, soaking up the atmosphere of a time gone by. Enjoy a traditional English tea on the lawns served by authentically dressed 'Apoos', many from the same families that served the planters of yesteryear. The suites are very spacious with imposing colonial style furniture, some with four-poster beds, and very elegant bathrooms. A large lounge and well-stocked library lead out to a croquet lawn, a large swimming pool and sun deck.

Possible activities in the area include circuit walking, trekking, biking, kayaking, white-water rafting, rock climbing, paragliding and golf are possible. A 'Tea Experience' is also offered, providing interesting insights into the growth and manufacture of tea. Catch an early morning train to discover the untamed beauty of Horton Plains, and then trek back to your bungalow. The Bungalow is perfectly positioned for climbing expeditions to the famed Adam's Peak, just 45 minutes away.

Accommodation
Three types of suite - master, garden or luxury - all named after former planters in the estate. The bungalow includes a swimming, summer house, croquet lawn, library and various indoor games. Rooms are sold on an all-inclusive basis, including breakfast, lunch, an afternoon cream tea, dinner (inclusive of wine), soft and non-premium alcoholic drinks, laundry and local calls. Guided walks can be arranged in the surrounding hills.
